Katharina was the second of nine surviving children of Peter Laub and Barbara Schommer.

Katharina married Wendelinus Thiel on 28 January 1724 in Bliesen. The coat of arms of the village is shown here.

Between 1725 and 1742, Wendelinus and Katharina had seven children:
