Agatha Johanna (Agnes) Noe

Agnes was the third of seven surviving children of Gebhard Carl Bartley and Margaret Deppman.

She spent her early years on her father's farm in Momeneetown, Ohio, and attended school at St. Mary's on Page Street in Toledo. She was said to have beautiful red hair. She was listed in the 1900 census as working as a servant for John Showel of Michigan Street in Toledo.

Agnes married Barney Noe on 16 June 1903 at St. Mary's.

Between 1905 and 1921, Barney and Agnes had five children:

  1. Francis Gilbert (Red) (20 Oct 1905 - 2 Oct 1987)
    He married Bernetta Catherine Lumbrezer (1914-2011)
  2. Mary Agnes (25 Apr 1907 - 5 Nov 1971)
    She married Leon Jacob (Red) Klein (1908-1970)
    Mary worked as a restaurant hostess. She was killed in a car accident.
  3. Mildred M. A. (Millie) (9 Mar 1909 - 11 Oct 1985)
    She married Flavian Justin Koepfer (1908-1965)
    Millie was the co-owner of the Koepfer General Store at Frankfort Corners, Ohio.
  4. Joseph Bernard (Joe) (19 Dec 1918 - 18 Feb 1983)
    He married Florence Barbara (Flo) Slusarz (1923-2004)
    Joe was the owner of Joe Noe Hardware in Swanton, Ohio, and worked as a salesman for the John Underwood auto dealership in Clinton, Michigan. He was a WWII Marine Corps veteran.
  5. Lawrence Raymond (25 Nov 1921 - 12 May 1997)
    He married Doretta Elizabeth (Dottie) Emch (1921-2011)
    Lawrence worked as the composing room foreman for the Bowling Green Sentinel-Tribune. He was a WWII naval veteran.

The family first lived on a 49-acre tract at the southwest corner of Section 18 of Richfield Township (the northeast corner of Sylvania Avenue and Fulton-Lucas County Road). The family then moved to Momeneetown in 1912 or 1913, where her husband worked the farm of her father. They moved to Swanton in about 1927, and lived at 103 Cass Street.

Agnes died at age 57 from cancer of the stomach, and was buried on 10 August 1938 in St. Richard cemetery in Swanton.
